I thought I'd start keeping track of the books I read each month and share them with you. You might find something that piques your interest! I don't do as many fiction books as most people put on their reading lists. I see enough fiction on Facebook and the media on a daily basis. This is not to mean I don't read fiction ever, but I think we're in a time where we need to be feeding our spirit and growing towards maturity more than feasting on romance and such.
I Deserve A Donut (And Other Lies That Make You Eat) by Barb Raveling: The title of this book is just fun. The author delves into some of the lies we tell ourselves about our eating habits and gives some insight into tackling those lies. She has also written a Bible study entitled Taste for Truth that I'm really enjoying. I've not technically finished the accompanying book, since I started it later in the month. Additionally there's a cool, free app to go along with both books if you're into that kind of thing.
The Believer's Authority (What You Didn't Learn in Church) by Andrew Wommack: This is an excellent book, teaching on the authority that Jesus gave the church after His resurrection. Most of the issues we have in our lives, and our world come from not understanding and acting on the authority that's been made available to us. On a side note, with authority comes responsibility and that's a big turn off to "the church" as nobody wants to take responsibility for failing to take a stand and use their authority.
Authentically, Uniquely You (Living Free From Comparison and the Need to Please) by Joyce Meyer: I've always liked Joyce and her straight froward style of teaching. Someone gave this book to the girls for Christmas, and I added it to my reading pile both for my own use, but also to be able to have good conversations with the girls about it. There's also a study guide available and this would make an excellent group study.
I hope you see something in this month's reading list that catches your attention and makes you hungry to grow!
These look like some great books; I am particularly interested in the food lies we tell ourselves (though I'm starting to spot them on my own!).
