We had a lovely Thanksgiving celebration last week. I fixed dinner here at our home, and my brother Nelson joined us. It was a relaxed, informal dinner, and quite possibly the best turkey I've ever fixed. Unfortunately, we were all busy talking and eating, and talking some more and completely forgot to take any photos at all!
Monday was Lindsey's regular work day. Our town's Christmas parade is always the Monday evening following Thanksgiving. Lindsey was in the parade, so she went straight from work to the lineup. Olivia was home, Tom took a vacation day, and Nelson made the trek back to our house, so the four of us had dinner and then went downtown to watch the parade. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as cold as it's been in past years, so we weren't completely miserable.
Tuesday morning was a flurry of activity with Olivia and I having to pinch hit for family with a health crisis. She will be taking over their farm for the rest of this week. Lindsey took care of her school work, and then went to get a haircut, donating over 12 inches of hair. Then the exciting news! The museum has decided to hire Lindsey as a part time costumed interpreter and seamstress! She is so excited! Details are still being worked out, but it looks like she'll be working three days a week, and special events as needed. Jiu-jitsu wrapped up the evening.
Wednesday was a regular school day for Lindsey, followed by play practice in the evening. Olivia was off at the farm tending to all the animals (cows, chickens, horses and dogs). In the evening, my sister-in-law and her new husband came by to take the girls out to dinner, and then to shop for their Christmas gifts. I went out to dinner with my friend DD, and then we headed to church.
Thursday was typical school, grocery shopping, farm, play practice and jiu-jitsu. I'm really glad the girls both drive and have their own vehicles! Lindsey however, had her work Christmas party at 5pm, so she skipped jiu-jitsu. I think they are smart to do their party early in December before everything else starts piling up, especially as busy as they will all be with lantern tours.
Friday I went downtown to pay taxes, and pick up a few small items at local small businesses. Olivia traveled to pick up a new horse trailer for the farm she's filling in at. Lindsey finished up her school work, then had to pick up one of the jiu-jitsu kids from the school bus stop and bring her home to pinch hit for their family. Yes, we pinch hit a lot, it's what we do, it's how we impact people and be the hands and feet of Christ.
I'm hoping to get a bit of Christmas decorating done over the next few days. It will have to be done in little pieces (at least the tree) because of everyone's conflicting work schedules.
Have a great weekend!
