It's hard to believe we're already in October!! The temperatures here have definitely embraced the season, as we have low 70's during the day and 40-50's at night. The leaves have started to change color suddenly, and hopefully I'll get some photos for you this coming week. This is my favorite time of the year!
Over the weekend, we worked on getting the dead plants out of the garden. I also worked in my flower beds and got a lot of the spent flowers out and spread the seed heads for the spring. The hedges in front of the house had gotten a bit unruly, so I took advantage of the cool weather to get those trimmed and looking decent once again. I still have some zinnias and asters that are doing well.
Monday morning, Lindsey had a follow up appointment with the orthodontist. She's doing really well with her retainers, and doesn't have to go back for several months, and gets to switch to only night time use in April. That sounds SO far off, but I know it'll be here before we know it. Lindsey did not have to work today, so it was a low key academic day at home. Olivia is still house & dog siting this week, as well as working the afternoon shift at one of her horse farms.
Tuesday Lindsey didn't have to be to work until 11am. We were able to sleep in a little, and still get school work done before she left. I'm very proud of how well she's doing with juggling her school work and nanny jobs. Even Olivia has commented on what a great job she's doing with her schedule. In the evening the girls had jiu-jitsu, so Olivia came home for dinner and then drove them both to class. I did the typical "mom" thing and packed up a couple of home cooked meals for her to take to warm up, and made some no-bake oatmeal cookies to send along as well.
Wednesday Lindsey was up at 6:30am to get started on her school work, and then she was at work by 8:15am. I headed over to Olivia's to help her with two projects. I had a friend stop by for coffee in the late morning, and at 1pm I picked Lindsey back up. I made homemade salisbury steaks for dinner, and Lindsey made homemade egg noodles to go with it. SUCH a good dinner! Church was the last thing for the evening.
Thursday Lindsey was up early, and off to work by 8:15am. I dropped her off and then went grocery shopping. I found some really nice, HUGE pumpkins at Aldi's for $2.99 so I add some to my outdoor decor. Hopefully they'll hold out until Halloween for carving purposes. The afternoon was filled with house work, and retrieving Lindsey from work. In the late afternoon Olivia returned for dinner (homemade chicken tikka masala) and then they were off to jiu-jitsu. The weird group of young males who live across the street decided to have a bonfire, so they drug an old mattress out into the yard and dumped gasoline on it. The fire quickly got out of hand (YOU THINK??) and the neighbors had to call the fire department. CRAZY.
Friday morning Lindsey was up at 5:30am and at work by 6:15. I dropped her off and went back to bed for a bit. Today I'll be working on writing up a few upcoming book reviews. Olivia comes home this evening, and it'll be nice to have everyone back under one roof after two weeks. We're going to a fall festival this weekend, so I MAY have photos to share next week.
Have a great weekend!
Hope you have a great time at the festival. We are noticing the same thing weather wise up here and our trees are slowly changing colors.
